Over the weekend we were honored to be a part of a Memorial Day ceremony of sorts....
the Mr. ( I think I have mentioned before that he was a marine) led the ceremony
in remembering 3 particular individuals who served their country with honor
and who have all since passed. What a beautiful service it was!
Seeing my kiddos watching and soaking it all in was incredible...
knowing that they are learning the importance of these things... that we cannot forget...
that we cannot take it all for granted.
We also shared some wonderful food with some awesome people... there were games,
animals to play with ...and the boys even got to ride a horse for the very first time!
By the end of the day...we were sun-kissed and dirty...but happy...I felt like I had gone back home for the day... as the area was a bit more rural and reminds me a lot of where I grew up.
On the way home, Luca spotted "Mater" at an old Gas Station that has been converted into a garage...
He was so excited... meeting his first "celebrity" was pretty awesome and unexpected...even if it wasn't exactly the real thing... it was fun and creative...and I wasn't about to tell him otherwise lol.
His dirty clothes and feet were hard to see with that big cheesy grin.... they also got the bath of a lifetime when they got home....
Great friends, great food, great surprises....great day....
What did you all do for Memorial Day?
