Golden Locks...no more...

That bird or mine...is getting so big. It is no surprise he has hit another milestone...

The 1st haircut.

Another non-surprise...he doesn't have the dark, thick, fast-growing hair his brother has...but no worries...these silky threads of his are adorable in their own rite...just because they're his.
Luca needed a haircut at 3 months...but I held out until he was 6 months old...I just couldn't bring myself to cut that gorgeous hair....

Canaan on the other hand, went a whole year without a haircut!  Not because I didn't think it was gorgeous, mind you...it just didn't grown as fast as Luca's. I have to say....I am a little sad again that it had to be done...well, had to be done,in the sense that the Mr. made me lol...these handsome boys would probably have long curls if it were up to this momma...isn't there something so ruggedly handsome about a man (or in this case, little boys) with long-ish hair? Hmmmm-kay....maybe its just me...I am rather a hippie. Well, like I said, the Mr. made me... sort of...and it was getting rather tiring to hear Canaan referred to as a she even when wearing his blaring-ly obvious boy attire... So...the deed was done...and fearing he would have the same reaction to the shears as his brother...I cringed hoping we didn't traumatize yet another hair stylist...but this time we wised up. Yes, this is possible. We took him to a kids salon....go figure...rocket science I know... and guess what?! They had toys...TOYS! and movies and oh.my.goodness....

ANIMAL CRACKERS.

This was the first snip of hair (above)...he didn't even know his hair was disappearing...! Thanks to those animal crackers I kept shoving in his mouth (well, I wasn't really shoving them in, come on now lol)...and that great movie that was playing right in his face lol! Luca played with the train set at the front of the salon the entire time...periodically stating, "I'm not getting my hair cut here.ever." Awesome...I hope he will outgrow this fear, eventually.

...and this is how my sweet, chubby, hippie ( albeit, pale as can be) baby...became a little boy; a toddler no less....and handsome! Though I am a little sad still...if I had to choose I prefer the "before"....but his new haircut isn't so bad...minus the square bangs...and the not-matching sideburns...I guess I have to get used to it...and mention the bangs situation the next time he goes for a trim....

...its amazing to me how much he grew up in a matter of 20 minutes....I wasn't at all prepared.

What's your vote- before or after? And yes, if you're wondering, I am going to use this little poll against the Mr. the next time haircut ideas start surfacing lol....

Speaking of vote...I am over here today participating in this photo contest...so if you would, pretty please take a milli-second to click the link and "like" the bird's picture I would ever so appreciate it!
