monday watercolors...

using watercolors to draw what they are learning. Today was "sharks" .... at this age, though it may not "look" anything like the subject...it's still awesome to see what they come up with.

Oh yeah, I joined in the fun a little too....I am wishing for spring...can't you tell?
:)

Also, I am 12 weeks today! Yippeeeee!
hopefully it is goodbye to morning sickness soon for me... second trimester, you're
looking pretty rad right now :)

Making Currently...

...for the bird
fresh off the press...(as in within the month lol)
I love doing this kind of creating...
I had so much fun playing around with different designs...
but in the end, I liked this one best...

I put it in this red frame I had for now...but I have a feeling it will look much better in a white one!
I made this a few weeks ago...and I've already had several requests from others...a version for their little ones...

I have another piece I designed that I will show you all as well in another post...that's to come soon!!!
but for now I just thought I would show you a little peek at what I've been up to creatively speaking!

Chalk it up

all my little guy wanted to do yesterday was play with his chalk...

...and when he said, "oh, thank you so much momma for letting me have my chalk "lesson" (?)...
(not sure why he called it that lol)
I couldn't help but smile...
even if he did leave a chalk trail all over the house...
the simplest things make him happy...
so why shouldn't they make me happy too?!?

I ♥ Thursdays: art, inspiration, dreams, and beauties

Happy Thursday! Whew....I have got to say, this has been such as super busy week! Before I give the wrong impression, I purely mean I have gotten so much accomplished this week and am super, over.the.top. happy about it! What have I been up to? Well, I have been dabbling in several diy's (of which I plan on sharing at least one with all of you), weeding out unecessary clutter, creating items for the shop's re-opening!!!!!! (more on that later too!) and re-doing some of the library! That's just to name a few things.... Tonight, the Mr. and I just tried to relax a bit...he's been having a really busy week as well so at the end of the day we are both pretty beat....off to bed my loves, but not with out some I ♥ Thursday eye.candy to help your dreams along!

...I need to remember this...perfectionism gets in the way of creativity...

I totally need this right now....(the recipe is included in the link) I will be trying this very soon!

...think I will try my hand at a version of this soon...a very loose version...I dont like copycating or copycats...but I do use things as inspiration

Paint Party

The other day, I had the bright idea to take the kiddos shopping for art supplies... now, we aren't strangers to art over here haha but it had been a little while since our last project- probably the first full-on paint-and-paint brush project we have had in the new house (ok I admit, I was nervous to paint in this house even if it is very easy to clean up...). I loaded up the kids and headed to the local Michael's because, hellllooooo.... I had a coupon! Yep, 50% off purchase....say no more!
So we gathered all the little supplies that we needed.... I had to restock some paint, get a some things for another project I'm working on and such. Oh, and get a canvas for the painting I finally was able to get around to painting for Luca (which was kind of my motivation for an art day).
I try really hard to be fair with my kiddos...so if I make something for the birdie man then I will try to make something for Luca as well and so on.... Well, so the last painting I did (I think haha)
was  this little owl for Canaan's nursery. I finished it when I was still pregnant with him and before we moved into the "prairie house" (the house we just moved out of).
The short of it is...I owed Luca a painting...

so we got to it!

...he wanted to use "a lot" of colors....pleasssseeee!

...I was actually surprised at how precise he tried to paint this little bird house...he had to paint every piece of it...which I thought was awesome!

...working hard....

...his finished...well drying...product lol!!!

....and here is the project for Luca's room finally finished! He loves trains so much....especially Thomas...so I used that as a bit of inspiration and then just went with it! I like how it turned out...and he is in love with it too! He asked me every 5 minutes, "is it dry yet?"

All aboard the Luca train! hah

Abstract Is "In"

I am not going to apologize ( as if I really needed too anyway lol) for ever posting a pic of this roamer. You see, (as I think I have mentioned here before) it is incessantly difficult to take a picture of a toddler, in an agreeable mood anyway. So any time I can snag one, please trust that I am going to write about it, because, in my world, this is ground-breaking stuff.

Today, he was all about his art. He is a very artistic child anyway- in the musical sense, but I can see his love for all things art evolving and I do love this so very much. We are just alike, two peas in a pod, he's kind of the dot-to-my-i and I think I probably understand and foresee a lot of things, both good and bad, that he has and will be confronted with. Like I was saying, he was all about his art today. He loves, I mean really loves play dough lately, but today he wanted to draw more than usual, and then he wanted to hang it on his wall. I eagerly appease him when it comes to these notions...I love it. He questions me with "Need tack?" as we walked to his bedroom to hang his art....got it covered my man.

He drew me this picture specifically for my refrigerator or in Luca "re-frig-gur-ate-or" I'm just impressed he can even half-way pronounce it...it's kind of a mouthful. I was so proud (of the drawing), he was too.....and that's why he let me take his picture.
